Ms Carine Kaneza Nantulya the Directrice Afrique et UA at the Human Rights Watch, paid a courtesy visit to the Defence Spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, where the two had a cordial interaction on various issues pertaining to Human Rights.
Ms Carine said that the role of Human Rights Watch is to elevate and strengthen the capacity of the existing bodies such as Human Rights commission and the Parliamentary committee on Human rights in the advocacy of human rights in Uganda.
She also presented the Human Rights Watch report that was launched yesterday in Kampala.
Brig Kulayigye appreciated the courtesy call and encouraged the Human Rights Watch to freely reach out to the UPDF incase of any query so that they get the proper information.
“UPDF, as a policy does not tolerate torture and the few errant individuals have been involved in such have been dealt with according to the law. We operate an open-door policy to stakeholders of Uganda’s development”, said the Defence Spokesperson.
They both promised a more fruitful working relationship in pursuit of the Human Rights of Ugandans which is something the UPDF is very passionate about.
