The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Fisheries Protection Unit (FPU) Sector Commanders are attending a two-day workshop at Ridar Hotel in Seeta – Mukono district.
The workshop organised by the Responsible Fisheries Business China Project, aims at designing a participatory licensing strategy that can be implemented to enhance the fisheries output for the coming years.
This will enable the licensing sector to achieve its goals of serving the fisheries management tools and guide FPU soldiers on incidences related to human rights abuses, use of proper fishing gear and avoiding unnecessary death from irresponsible fishermen who use illicit weapons to loot from each other.
