The National Defence College – Uganda course participants on study tour of South -Western Uganda have today visited Hotmail and Kikuube Districts, some of the oil prospective districts in the sub region.
The group led by the College Secretary Brig Gen Simon Ochan were conducted on a guided tour of Enviroserv – Uganda Limited, a waste treatment and disposal facility. They were briefed at the facility by the Senior Stakeholders Engagement Officer of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) Mr. Muhumuza Didas who highlighted the vision, mission and values of petroleum to Uganda.
PAU intends to regulate and monitor the petroleum sector in order to create lasting value for society and contribution to Uganda being a sound investment destination.
He said PAU values are professionalism, responsibility to society, integrity and ethics, mutual respect, trust and excellence in execution of their roles.
Mr. Muhumuza appreciated the UPDF leadership for the support towards the exploration of the natural resources. He sighted National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) that provided Land to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) which will help in the smooth running of oil mining activities.
The team also visited Kingfisher Oil fields in Buhuka Parish kyangwali subcounty in Kikuube district to see the developments so far.
They toured the construction works on Kabaale International Airport which is also a key development in the region.
Mr. Mulisa Amos, the Public Relations Officer of SBC- Uganda Limited, the company contracted to construct the airport briefed the team on the progress and how the community has benefited from the project and how the airport will turn the region into an investment hub.
The developments in the area are also concerned about the environment aspects and Enviroserv- Uganda which cater for waste disposable and treatment not to degrade the environment.
