Today, Brig Gen Simon Ocan has handed over the office of College Secretary National Defence College – Uganda to Col David Tweheyo. The function presided over by the College Commandant Maj Gen Francis Okello.
Gen Okello expressed his gratitude to Brig Ocan for working diligently hard, together with the entire leadership to see the College through its hard years of infancy.
“There are always a number of challenges and problems when you begin something but due to hard work, commitment and team work this outgoing group has managed to start the College and it’s now doing well”, he noted.
“The College is faced with a number of challenges among them accommodation, transport, insufficient funding and teaching staff, expansion but the departing team has worked around the clock to ensure that the College remains on foot.” Gen Okello added.
He particularly thanked the outgoing College Secretary for his contribution in maintaining a remarkable standard of NDC(U). He prayed the college continues to improve in all its areas of need.
The incoming College Secretary Col David Tweheyo thanked the UPDF leadership especially the President of Uganda and Commander in Chief of the UPDF for giving him a chance to serve in such a prestigious institution. He promised to start from where his immediate predecessor left off and raise the College flag even higher.
The function was attended by the Directing staff and Senior Officers of the college. Brig Gen Ocan heads to Bujumbura, Burundi as Uganda’s Defence Advisor. Col Tweheyo was until this appointment the UPDF Chief of Policy and Plans.
