Officers and Militants at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and Uganda Peoples Defence Forces strategic headquarters have today held a meeting that focused on deepening ideological orientation with the aim of enhancing the good performance of officers and men of the UPDF. This was during a one-day exercise that was held at the Defence Headquarters, Mbuya as part of the ongoing annual Chief of Defence Forces Exercise.
The exercise was presided over by a team led by the Chief Political Commissar, Major General Henry Masiko who reminded the officers and militants that the UPDF was founded on the ideology that emphasizes discipline, patriotism, Pan-Africanism and the socio-economic transformation agenda as envisaged right from its foundations of FRONASA and NRA.
On welfare, Maj Gen Masiko said the leadership is ensuring that all the ongoing projects aimed at addressing the welfare gaps are accomplished.
Brig Gen Hassan Kimbowa the Adjutant of the MoDVA/UPDF General Headquarters who delivered the CDF’s message emphasised discipline, welfare and vision based on a non-partisan force, national in character, patriotic, professional, disciplined, productive and subordinate to the civilian authority as established under the Constitution.
He thanked the UPDF strategic leadership that remains envisioned to address the welfare gaps which include the gradual increment of salaries and
highlighted the various interventions that are aimed at addressing the welfare gaps include; UPDF Health facilities, Wazalendo SACCO, accessing Defence Forces Shop, ATMIS Army schools among others.
Col Dr. Lusiba who represented the Chieftaincy of Medical Services explained the importance of good health and encouraged them to maintain physical fitness training and metabolic health for operations readiness, individual and dependants benefits.
