The Chief of Staff – Reserve Force, Brigadier General Mwanje Ssekiranda, has stated that the transfer of Officers in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces is a normal and healthy practice that ensures accountability by outgoing officers to the institution.
He made these comments during the handover/takeover ceremony of the Commander Jinja Cantonment office from Colonel Robert Rutainama to Brigadier General Emmanuel Kanyesigye, which was held at Gaddafi Barracks in Jinja.
Brigadier General Mwanje commended Colonel Rutainama for overseeing all formations and units in Gaddafi barracks and fostering good cooperation with civil society and urged him to replicate the same in his new duty station.
The incoming Cantonment Commander, Brigadier General Kanyesigye, called for cooperation from the command and staff of Gaddafi barracks to enable him to execute his duties.
The outgoing Commander, Colonel Rutainama, said that his job was made easy by the cooperation of staff and formations within Gaddafi barracks, and requested the same cooperation for the incoming commander.
He expressed his gratitude to the UPDF leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve as Cantonment Commander in Jinja and appointing him to the same position in Rubongi barracks, Tororo.
Present at the function were: the Commandant Junior Command and Staff College Brig Gen Chris Ogwal, Commandant Non-Commissioned Officers Academy Col Saad Katemba, Commandant School of Supplies and Transport Col Amos Rutaremwa, Officers and Staff from UPDF formations within Gaddafi barracks among others.
