Lt Gen Sam Okiding, Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, has lauded the enduring and historic ties between Uganda and Zimbabwe, highlighting the shared experiences and similarities that unite the two nations. He noted that Zimbabwe has played a significant role in shaping the careers of many Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) officers, having hosted training courses for them.
Lt Gen Okiding made these remarks while addressing Directing Staff and Student Officers attending the Joint Command and Staff Course from the Zimbabwe Staff College, during their visit to the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) Headquarters in Mbuya.
The head of the delegation, Group Captain Morris Mujikwa, emphasised that comprehensive security is paramount to the survival of the human race. He stressed the importance of African countries collaborating through regional frameworks, underscoring the need for a unified approach to address common challenges.
Present at the occasion were: the Chief of Joint Staff, Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, Joint Staff, and Senior Officers of the UPDF.
