Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) recently welcomed 400 Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (JNCOs) for a study tour at its Kiwatule headquarters.
These officers, currently enrolled in a four-month leadership course at Hima Training School in Kasese District, explored strategies for financial management and investment.
WSACCO’s Head of Human Resource and Administration, Lt Col Wesley Aine, standing in for CEO Col Joseph Freddy Onata, emphasised the cooperative’s vital role in supporting officers’ financial well-being. He reaffirmed WSACCO’s mission to grow its membership, deliver quality financial services, and positively impact members’ lives during and beyond their service.
Lt Col Frank Kaweru, Commandant of Hima Training School, expressed confidence that the JNCOs would gain practical financial management skills from the visit. “I am confident that this study tour will leave you with a greater understanding of enterprise selection and effective loan use to improve your welfare and support Wazalendo’s growth,” he remarked.
Maj Julius Niragire, WSACCO’s Head of Operations, highlighted the cooperative’s remarkable growth, noting that by October 31, 2024, membership had exceeded 112,106, with significant contributions to share capital, deposits, assets, and loan portfolios. He encouraged members to adopt consistent saving habits and to use loans wisely to sustain this growth.
Maj David Mbire, Head of Operations at Wazalendo Investments Limited (WIL), shared insights on WIL’s investment projects, including real estate and agriculture, noting that profits from these ventures would yield dividends and affordable housing for members.
The event was attended by senior and junior officers among other officials.
