The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces today received a donation from Zhengtu Mao Animal and Human Drugs Industries Ltd in preparation for the 44th Tarehe Sita Anniversary, set to be celebrated in the Greater Masaka Region. The donation included 100,000 sachets of pain relief patches and 5,000 sanitary pads.
Brig Gen Michael Kibuye, the Director of Civil-Military Cooperation, expressed gratitude to the company for their support and highlighted the significance of such partnerships.
“We do not take this for granted. I thank Brig Gen Rtd Emmanuel Rwashande for honouring the Chief of Joint Staff’s invitation and donating these medical items, which will be crucial during the medical camp,” he remarked.
He highlighted the significance of the donations in fostering a strong relationship between the UPDF and the general public, emphasising that it was their duty to establish and maintain a good relationship with the wananchi, whom he referred to as their strategic partners, and to ensure that this relationship thrives.
Brig Gen (Rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande, a director at Zhengtu Mao Animal and Human Drugs Industries Ltd, explained that the donations were a way of appreciating the UPDF’s efforts in ensuring national and regional stability.
According to Brig Gen Rwashande, the items would be instrumental during the Tarehe Sita celebrations, emphasising that they would greatly assist officers in the field as they carried out their duties.
Among those present at the event were Capt Dr Samuel Michael Nono, Staff Officer in the Directorate of Pharmaceuticals, who represented Brig Gen Patrick Ocen, Deputy Joint Staff Health Services, and Cynthia Mukundane, another director from the donating company.
