South Africa’s High Commissioner to Uganda H.E Lulama Xingwana has today paid a courtesy call to the Minister of State for Veteran Affairs Hon Huda Oleru.
The meeting at the Docket of Veterans Affairs which is domiciled at Postel House on Clement Hill in Kampala, focused on issues of mutual interest between South Africa and Uganda and how to strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries, most especially on issues that affect military veterans.
During the meeting, the duo shared experiences on the need to continuously improve the welfare of veterans through programmes that aim at reskilling, resettling, rehabilitating, managing disabilities, Medicare, job placement and innovative integration; among others, for all veterans.
H.E Xingwana commended UPDF and its leadership for restoring peace and security in the country and beyond. She reiterated South Africa’s commitment towards building peace and stability in Uganda.
Hon Oleru on her part thanked the Government of South Africa for its cordial cooperation in defence and security with Uganda, most especially through training and defence diplomacy.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy High Commissioner for the Republic of South Africa in Uganda H.E Silly Sebolla, UPDF Chief of Pensions and Gratuity Brig Gen Julius Biryabarema, Commissioner Psycho Social Support and Resettlement Mr. Mike Wambi Mabonga, his deputy Arthur Kamya and a delegation from South Africa.
