The Minister of State for Defence in charge of General Duties Hon Jacob Marksons Oboth has today held a meeting with the Republic of Korea Defence Attaché’ to Uganda Col Jeongsu Lee.
The meeting, at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala, focused on the maintenance and strengthening of the existing cooperation in defence and security between Uganda and Republic of Korea.
Hon Oboth applauded the Republic of Korea for her continued support towards the success of Uganda’s military operations. “I believe in South Korea since you are already in smart technology and care,” said Hon Oboth.
In his remarks, Col Jeongsu praised the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) for maintaining peace and stability in the country and beyond.
He said the Republic of Korea army has acquired alot of military skills and knowledge from their Partner States (like the United States of America), which he said, they would love to share with the UPDF, most especially in the field of water sanitation, solar energy, medical capability and poverty eradication, among others.
He also invited Uganda’s State Defence Minister Hon Oboth to attend the Korean Defence dialogue meeting scheduled for later this year in Seoul.
The meeting was also attended by the Military Assistant to Hon Oboth, Col Simon Peter Oyoo, among others.
