Defence Attachés accredited to the Republic of Uganda have been commended for their cordial working relationship in the execution of their duties in Uganda.
Brigadier General Abdul Rugumayo who represented the Chief of Military Intelligence made the remarks during a meeting with the Defence Attachés that was held today at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Mbuya. “We’re very happy for the cooperation with Defence Attachés from different countries and UPDF’s door is always open for you at any time,” said Brig Gen Rugumayo.
He called upon the Attachés to continue with the existing good spirit of work and encouraged them to always get correct information from official channels and this will give them accurate information.
The Defence Attaché of the United Kingdom accredited to Uganda who doubles as Dean of Defence Attachés, Lt Col Barrington Barnes Toby thanked Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces and the government of Uganda in general for the good bilateral relations. “We have a lot of bilateral businesses with different countries and we thank you for the support rendered to us,” said Lt Col Barrington.
The outgoing Defence Attaché of Turkiye to Uganda Col Ismail Demirtas was bade farewell after his tour of duty in Uganda. “It has been 3 years of unique experience of work, and I have learned a lot. I love Uganda and its People,” said Col Ismail.
The Defence Attachés were briefed on the security situation of Uganda and the operations of the UPDF.
The meeting was attended by the Defence Attachés from Egypt, Kenya, South Sudan, the United States of America, the Republic of Korea, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania and Senior Officers.
