The UPDF Commander Air Force (CAF) Lt Gen Charles Okidi called upon the new commander of the Ground Based Air Defence to use revolutionary methods of work to manage the group.
The CAF made this remark while presiding over the hand/take over ceremony of the office of the commander of 101 Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) from Col Katatumba Kamugisha to Brig Gen David Isimbwa.
The ceremony happened yesterday at UPDF – Air Force cantonment in Nakasongola.
Lt Gen Charles Okidi, in his remarks, noted that hand/take over in the UPDF is a routine practice after a given tour of duty to ensure accountability of the achievements and challenges during the course of time when one was in charge.
He commended the Outgoing (Col Katatumba) for a job well done and urged him to concentrate on his substantive responsibility of commanding the Battle Management Center (BMC).
To the Incoming (Brig Gen Isimbwa), the CAF implored him to use revolutionary methods of work to manage the Ground Based Air Defence group. “I further encourage you to pick from the Outgoing and propel the Air Defence to greater heights now that you have renewed energy parked with firebrand knowledge acquired from the National Defence College,” Lt Gen Okidi said.
He also encouraged him to maintain the air defence assets so that they remain dependable eyes in the national air space.
The CAF concluded by instructing the Incoming to ensure a healthy workforce, develop capacity, ensure accountability and promote teamwork.
The Hand/Take over was also attended by UPDF Senior and Junior Officers.
