CLARIFICATION OF FALSE NEWS REPORT
We wish to draw your attention to the story that run in the New Vision of 06th July 2022 on page 30 under the heading “Leaders decry fraud in UPDF recruitment”
We wish to categorically state that Hon Oboth was misquoted. His true statement was he had received complaints about the recently concluded LDP recruitment process and promised to follow up with the relevant authorities.
The reference to his nephew was in response to the allegation that he personally had a list which was favored for recruitment. He was using the example of his own nephew who was not given any special treatment, as should have been. He was treated as a regular applicant, went through the process and was turned away when he did not meet the qualifications.
We call upon the public to disregard this news report as false and we as UPDF distance ourselves from it or any insinuations attached to it.
