The UPDF marksmen left all the other teams in utter awe and disbelief at the shooting range competitions, one of the activities of day three of the interforce games and championships going on at Queen Elizabeth Game Park Mweya, Kasese District.
The activity was conducted today at Nyamugasani shooting range ground in Kasese District where all representatives of the sister forces (UPF, UPS and UWA) participated.
Impeccable sources have it on good authority that UPDF officers and men were announced the overall winners of the match III range competitions. The final aggregate score will be announced on Wednesday 27th September 2022.
The commander in charge of the shooting range Lt Col Moses Opel explained the various shooting ranges as: Match one – a 300m long-range, Match two – the longest range also known as ‘kijana’ (it is predominantly for young men and women) and finally Match three – a range which soldiers normally shoot from either 75m seating position, or 50m kneeling position, or even 25m standing position.
Lt Col Moses Opel described the shooting range activity as key to effective wildlife protection among the sister forces.
He added that shooting exercise is conducted between the Interforces because its the main objective of collaboration. He however pointed out that the activity is at the pedestal of promoting security personnel in the conservation area. He reiterated that the sister forces have helped Uganda as a country in promoting tourism as one of the main national income earners.
Further details of the results of Day 3 sports activities shall be relayed on Wednesday 27th September 2022.
