Today residents of Nakasongola town joined UPDF troops from Nakasongora cantonment to mark the 42nd Tarehe sita activities.
Col Abdala Adbasiku the acting cantonment commander led the troops comprising of UPDF-Air Force Nakasongola wing, Special Force Command, Motorized infantry, Marines, and Cantonment guard to Nakasongola town in the cleaning of the market, hospital, and general areas of Nakasongola town. They were joined by civil leaders residents, Luwero industries, and market vendors.
Col Abdala Adbasiku said that Tarehe sita is a culture of UPDF that is always celebrated every year and this year it’s celebrated under the theme ” Recognizing the sacrifices of the founders of people’s revolution for social economic transformation.”
He further informed the people that this is one way of giving back to the community as part of social cooperate responsibility and it shows that UPDF is a pro-people army. “We thank you all the people of Nakasongola and greater Luwero at large for the great support you have always rendered to UPDF since the people’s revolution started in 1981,” said Col Abdasiku
At the same function, Lt (Rtd) Sam kigula the LC5 Nakasongola district, informed the people of Nakasongola that Tarehe Sita is a date that brought peace they are enjoying today through the sacrifices of NRA /UPDF made in the peoples’ revolution.
He called upon the people of Nakasongola to use the available peace for the first time in many decades in Uganda for economic transformation so that the blood which was shade by NRA combatants to liberate this country be meaningful.
