Hundreds of Kazo district residents are flocking to medical camps to receive free medical services provided by the UPDF’s Chieftaincy of Medical Services in the ongoing week-long symbolic activities to commemorate the 42nd Tarehe Sita Anniversary in Greater Mbarara. “The numbers are big because of the trust they have in UPDF,” said Lt Col Dr. Lopez Mukuye who further said that they have so far attended to more than 200 people at the static medical camp that is expected to end on 5th February 2023.
According to Lt Col Dr. Mukuye, the Kazo District Medical Team leader, hundreds have embraced the free medical services that are being by the Medical Personnel due to the confidence and faith the residents of Kazo have in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces.
Lt Col Dr. Mukuye says his team is composed of a Static team at Kazo Health Centre IV offering diagnosis and treatment in tropical diseases, ophthalmology, dental, ear, nose for outpatients, and throat services and surgical services that include Cesarean Section, hernias and hydrocephalus.
Dr. Mukuye further said that the mobile team is offering dental services, public health, and vector control in different areas of the Kazo district.
Kato Geoffrey a resident of Rwemirondo and Tumushabe Crescent all from Kazo district who benefited from the eye care services from the UPDF medical team praised the team for professionally handling them without discrimination and free of charge.
This year’s Tarehe Sita Anniversary is being held in Greater Mbarara in the districts of Mbarara, Mbarara City, Kazo, Kiruhura, Rwampara, Ibanda, Isingiro, and Ntungamo District under the theme: “Recognizing the sacrifice of the founders of the People’s Revolution for Social Economic Transformation.”
