The Deputy Commander Land Force, Major General Francis Takirwa has advised troops of the Field Artillery Division to jealously protect and maintain the newly constructed housing units in the Division by putting into practice the best living standards.
Maj Gen Takirwa made the remarks as he commissioned forty-eight (48) housing units in the Field Artillery Division, Masindi Barracks.
He informed troops that His Excellency and Commander-in-Chief has always desired to construct thirty thousand (30,000) housing units in a phased manner so that every soldier is accorded a decent accommodation.
Maj Gen Takirwa implored the soldiers to use alternative means of cooking like gas which is environmentally friendly and healthy and avoid using charcoal and firewood.
He advised the Division leadership to make sure every soldier plants a tree to support the fight against environmental degradation.
He cautioned the soldiers to live within their means and avoid statuses they can’t sustain which results in indiscipline cases.
The Deputy Commander Field Artillery Division, Col Polly Ouma thanked the UPDF leadership for the initiative of constructing houses for soldiers, especially the Field Artillery Division.
In attendance were Commanding Officers, Heads of Department, officers and men of the Field Artillery Division.
